twin panther progress

so i got my primary connection dealt with this weekend..[for a second time] its been kinda half done for ages now after the weekend of doom a month or 3 back when it all went tits up.

so i closed the motors together by few of mm. that way im not relying on my measurements and the belt not stretching - ill have an idler pulley now in the middle bottom run. plus a few fairly inconsequential tweaks that i will notice but dont really matter.

was a 1 hit job so ive been avoiding it. get it wrong, start primary plate again... but turned out not too bad after ive been making excuses not to do it. bit of turning, hammering, welding and grinding and im happy. essentially 2 of the bolts that hold the crank halfs of each engine together also clamp the primary connection to the motors through the dural plates - making everything stiffer.

33 panther progress

theres something very pleasing about making engine parts as opposed to fancy stylistic doodats

it either works or doesnt, theres no this is cool thats not cool BS... fingers crossed it fits and works when i get a minute to try it in the 1933 panther redwing motor thats nearly completed for pegacorn

biltwell gringo helmets

ok - so they are still some way off completion but i think they are looking pretty damn fine. will make a nice winter lid i recon. photo nicked off biltwells feed

obvioulsy i'll have em in when they are in production.

twin engine tuesday

whole heartedly stolen from elcorramotors

1933 panther engine

been a long while since this motor moved any. its a '33 panther motor. pretty rare beast. its been sat on the shelf ages waiting on some time / love. well its time has come - its going to get put into pegacorn. before and as it stands pic. should be back together and running by xmas now ive got all the odds n sods sorted for it

black panther m100 for sale

selling my old m100 panther now i have the rigid panther on the road reliable this doesnt get used [not been ridden, other than test ride after engine work, since about march or april when i took it off the road for the engine maintenance below]

its had new rebore / piston
new valves / guides
[bottom end checked out just fine]
mag rebuild last winter

other than that:
powdercoated wheels
12v converted
custom front mudguard [in my opinion way tider than massive stock one]
paint is 2k blackwith a slight metal fleck in it - its petrol proof not rattle can.
i have the stock dual seat to go with it and some stock bars if you prefer [but this is a superbly comfy position to ride to me]

its a mild custom as can bee seen in the pics and can be reverted to stock if you want in pretty much no time

its a 56 bike with a 53 motor, free tax, doesnt need mot & cheap insurance... what more do you want in life?

all in all - a tidy bike, absolutely not a project but equally not a pristine mint museum piece either

its still a bit tight with the motor being fresh done, but a decent starter - get on and ride

im looking for £4000

will be ebay bound in the next week or 2 if it doesnt sell

feel free to share in blog land :)

a big thanks to everyone who has bought the stump puler sponsor pins from http://stumppuller.bigcartel.com/ - makes this a lot more realistic to achieve

steam roller wide sportster progress

made some progress on the fat tyre sporty

its coming together pretty nicely now i recon. shold be a good lump of a bike when its done and dusted

panther m100 m120 exhaust spanner

sick of doing my panther exhaust up with a hammer and a punch... so i just got my new panther exhaust spanners made up. got some spares made too to sell. so if anyone wants one drop me a line. they are a nice single sided tool roll size & made of stainless. £12 to your door

hopefully it will mean less panther heads out there with stripped exhaust threads

stump puller coming along

been spending some time on the stump puller

new engine plates are in, new top mounts drawn, seat reprofiled for "comfort" [its relative ok....] bars changed around, nitrous positioning sorted, etc etc.. pretty good week or so of weekends n evenings. slow progress but its sure at least...

trip out

was a blast. thanks to everyone that had a hand in it.

the party is covered on every site / blog etc and i have nothing to add to be fair.

my best news for the weekend is that i thrashed the hell out of the pegacorn and the only problem i had was i lost my oil filler - nothing a stick and a bit fleece couldnt fix. thanks to the BMW rider that stopped and gave me his neck warmer to plug the hole. [i know - a neck warmer on a belting sunny day.. but who am i to complain when he got me out of a hole without having to resort to cutting up my clothes]

photos stolen from mainly http://m.flickr.com/#/photos/garrystuart/sets/72157631501919500/ who did a better job than i would have done even if i had taken any pictures.

vintagechop shop - all back up to date

everything is now back up to date

any outstanding orders are packed and ready to go out tomorrow

sorry for any delays, took me a couple of days to catch back up to things after the tipple run.

tipple run thankyou

thanks to everyone who came and played out on the tipple run this year - always a good laugh

things we learnt this year:

• it doesnt ALWAYS rain on the tipple run
• "we'll keep the bar open as long as you like" doesnt mean that at all when the clock strikes 11.32pm
• its a hell of a lot easier herding cats on a sportster than a panther
• i still dont like being at the front :)
• there are some lovely people who still like to ride bikes
• steam fairs are better kept small
• we really do have some of the prettiest roads around if you look for them
• i should take photos every now and then
• waitrose do awesome picnic food

thanks again everyone - im going to do a photo dump like in previous years

if you only took a few photos then send them me vintagechop@gmail.com if you took loads then try using www.wetransfer.com make a zip file of them all [not zipx] and send them over via that. easy to follow instructions on their site.

see you all next time

Twin Engine Tuesday

another beauty for you to feast your eyes on

dual headed panther

i just got this sweet panther draw up by our illustrator at the day job. guess ill get some stickers or something made up. looking at having it pretty big on the spine of the bike, should look pretty trick

Twin Engine Tuesday

stolen from the web - no info on this but its pretty damn nice looking in my book

back in black

spent the weekend on this getting things in place for the motors. im just waiting on the club getting valves back in stock in the next week or so and then ill have 2 mild motors together ready to drop in here.
it was damned uncomfy - so i have moved the pegs, altered the bars & changed the seat. now my nuts arent compressed into my spine after 12 seconds - im thinking more than a minute pay be possible without passing out now...
and seeing as i had it stripped down to do some welding i figured id give it a waft of black to make it look more presentable. then a speedy re-assemble and it was back on the bench by sunday lunch time. another couple of weeks and i wil have the motors in there proper. then i just need to pull cash together for a coupleof carbs and mag rebuilds and it might make some noise.

zips bike for sale

go empty your coppers jar and get in touch with zip or benny at boneshakers

sweeper upperer

anyone thats been on the tipple run will guess who this is for - cheers for the help bud - i appreciate it

twin engine tuesday

twin engine tuesday can only belong to 1 person this week... tyler over at lowbrow customs / redliners racing

top chap and some top bikes. he got this running just in time for born free and will be on the salt this year with it - see you there next year mate with a bit of luck and a fair breeze

wanted - sportster mids

somebody must have some kicking about under a bench somewhere...

sportster mids - the earlier type - i think like 93-03 or something like that. 2" between centres on the left hand size casting where it mounts to the engine and the right side going through the sprocket cover, not to a casting like later ones.

theres an email link on the right hand side or leave me a comment

ta

pegacorn done?

well - got the right motor into it now, got some bugs fixed. found a sweet little leather saddlebag i got ages ago i forgot about so i can carry tools now and actually got some miles on it on sunday

we got drenched in the first half mile but then the sun came out to play so we dried off pretty good. stopped at a few of the local boozers and had a jolly nice day of it
